If Things Could Be Slightly Less F*cky

If Things Could Be Slightly Less F*cky

There's a Canadian comedian named Darren Frost who calls everyone "FUCKY". He's this little disgruntled curmudgeon who calls you Fucky to your face and I always thought that was good for the world. In Darren's world, everyone's Fucky. You, your mom, your neighbour, your local tax man. No one gets to not be Fucky.

I really like the word. It's versatile. Has a lot of bend.

Growing up in a religious household I was told to watch my words and not use such bad language. But then I would get to school and it was my favourite thing to do at recess. We would go to the back fence far from the teachers and just come up with every bad word we weren't allowed to say and say it!

Why we're not just making this an actual activity at school is beyond me. "Alright class, on the count of three we're all going to scream FUCK then get back to learning about elephants."

We live in a world that tells you things are good or bad and that people are good or bad. And that changes and bends depending on the intent and interest of the people saying it. Often times those lines are skewed and this idea of good or bad is so subjective that they both become equally weaponized

What a horrible way to live.

That's why I like the word FUCKY

Some people are super fucky. Others have done work on themselves and learned from their mistakes, they're slightly less fucky than they used to be.

That's a great goal. To be SLIGHTLY LESS FUCKY

Not asking you to be GOOD because you are BAD. That triggers fear and anxiety and people double down on shit that is detrimental to their growth.

Instead, just try to be slightly less fucky.

You were super fucky yesterday?
Cool, well, that was way too much fucky.
Today, what do you need to do to tone it down?
How can you be just slightly less fucky?

And the state of the world? SUPER FUCKING FUCKY!

When it comes to the big things, institutions, power imbalance, injustice — everyone is aware that they set us up for failure in the long-run. We corner ourselves into a lose-lose game

Imagine a President turning to his war room before dropping bombs on an elementary school and saying: "Will this make the world more fucky or less fucky?" Even with all their justifications they probably know deep down it's the more fucky thing to do.

What an easy measuring stick. We don't need to complicate this

Aim for a less-fucky world by making less-fucky decisions so we don't create more-fucky people who end up making a more-fucky world

Imagine a world that's just NOT SO FUCKING FUCKY

Have a great fucking day.

Fucky.
